Why a self-guided tour?
- You’ll avoid looking like a tourist
- It’s more affordable
- You pay restaurants directly (no one takes a cut)
- You can go at your own pace and customize stops
- You don’t have to make small talk with strangers
- It has the best spots, not just ones that take groups
About Georgetown
All the guide books will tell you to visit Downtown Seattle, but insiders know the best way to experience Seattle is through its surrounding neighborhoods.
Georgetown is a fiercely independent area of South Seattle that even some locals haven’t explored yet. That’s a shame, though, as it’s Seattle’s oldest neighborhood. In fact, the first settlers here encouraged the people who are credited to have founded Seattle to move out west! The area thrived because of its ability to grow hops, but this beer-loving town was almost forgotten after Prohibition. Thankfully it was restored in the 90s and it’s now a lovely area to spend the afternoon.
You can see the history seeping out of Georgetown thanks to the careful restoration of brick buildings, tile stoops, molding, and light fixtures. If you love independent shops, antiques, restaurants, and art markets, you’ll absolutely love Georgetown. I look forward to sharing this gem of a neighborhood with you!
About your guide
Hi I’m Adria! I help people discover the best flavors, makers, and unique adventures in the Pacific Northwest through travel guides, food tours, and small group tours.
Seattle has been my home for almost 15 years, which means I know where to find the best eats. And since I care deeply about small businesses, I decided to create self-guided walking tours to connect you with my favorites.
I considered hosting in-person Seattle walking tours, but I discovered some things about the industry that made me uncomfortable.
First, there’s an issue with some food tour companies trying to get discounts from restaurants with promises of “exposure”. Second, tours tend to cater to large groups. As a result, some businesses aren’t willing to work with food tours.
To better align with my values of supporting small businesses and authentically sharing the best of the best, I decided to offer self-guided walking tours of Seattle instead. I hope you love them as much as I do, and take pride knowing you are supporting small businesses directly.

I loved this guide! I gifted it to a coworker for secret Santa – someone new to the city, and it was a hit! I printed it out, accompanied with a gift card to one of my favorite Georgetown spots – and the gift was both informative and visually stunning.

Yay I’m so happy to hear! A Secret Santa is such a creative use of this guide. I appreciate you thinking of it for that!

Came across this guide while doing research for an article I was working on about things for families to do in Georgetown. It’s beautifully done, fantastic info and love the writing.

We’ve been going to the Georgetown Art Attack but couldn’t figure out where to eat–problem solved! Really appreciate the detail and the interviews with the owners of the establishments. Looking forward to our next art walk and food excursion.

I’m so happy to help hear! I hope you find some new favorites.
