Maybe you care about location and the proximity to hiking, water, or city life. Or perhaps you don’t want to leave the property and are all about those amenities. Whether you’re traveling alone, as a couple, with friends, or with human and fur babies, there’s a resort in the PNW for everyone.

Brasada Ranch

While many people visit the more affordable Suttle Lodge nearby, I find Brasada Ranch located in Central Oregon’s high desert to be a better option for those who love amenities. It has upscale dining, fire pits, hot tubs, golf courses, horseback riding, and plenty of trails for all experience levels.
The resort has gorgeous views of the Cascade Mountains. You don’t really need to leave the resort, but if you do there are a ton of fun things to do in Bend, Oregon.
When you visit, you can either stay in the lodge or in one of the cabins. The cabins come in multiple sizes, so it’s perfect if you’re traveling with a large group or a family.
The Vintages Trailer Park Resort

If you love glamping, want to know what RV living looks like, and want to explore the best wineries in Willamette Valley, Oregon, then you’ll want to stay at The Vintages. It’s a super cool resort made up of refurbished vintage trailers. They’re super Instagrammable thanks to their colorful exteriors and the fact that they’re all lined up on a tree-lined street.
Each trailer is equipped with basic amenities like a small kitchen, local coffee with a French press, and a bathroom. Some of them have showers, but if not, they have showers on sight in the pool house, along with outdoor fire pits, a general store, and a pool. Each trailer even comes with bikes so you can visit the nearby wineries and best restaurants in Willamette Valley.
Pro tip: If you’re traveling via RV, you can park right next door at the Willamette Wine Country RV Park.
Suncadia Resort

The Suncadia Resort is perfect if you want to be surrounded by mountains. It’s also one of the best pet-friendly hotels in Washington, with over 6,000 acres of forested land for you and the dogs to explore.
Beyond the great outdoors, Suncadia has tons of amenities that I outlined in my guide to Suncadia. Between the spa, onsite winery, hiking trails, and fitness studio, you can easily keep busy without having to leave the resort. They also have tons of winter activities like snowshoeing and skiing, with equipment rentals available.
Salish Lodge & Spa

The Salish Lodge is easily one of the most picturesque resorts in Washington state. It’s perched on a cliff overlooking Snoqualmie Falls, giving you world-class views from the comfort of the lodge. You can also catch a view from their award-winning restaurant or from some of the rooms.
In addition to the breathtaking scenery, the lodge has one of my favorite luxury spas and is incredibly pet-friendly. They even offer pet sitting if you want to explore the trails and leave the pups to relax in the resort.
Timberline Lodge

If I told you the Timberline Lodge was where The Shining was filmed, would that deter you from staying? I hope not! Even if you’re not a horror movie fan, it’s worth a stay for its proximity to the Mt. Hood ski areas, hiking, and biking trails.
You can choose to stay at the lodge or in one of the many surrounding cabins. Rooms come in all sizes, so it’s a perfect spot for groups big and small. It’s also the only resort in Mt. Hood that offers ski in, ski out access.
Semiahmoo Resort

Blaine is an underrated town that’s located right on the Washington-Canada border. This resort offers a unique glimpse of the Salish Sea and puts you within a short drive’s distance from several golf courses, Semiahmoo Park, and the best things to do in Vancouver, BC.
The resort has beach access, allowing guests to explore the open water via kayak or keep it coastal and play a round of beach volleyball. They also have a luxury spa, outdoor pool, and onsite restaurant and bar.
Lodge at St. Edward State Park

St. Edward Park is a huge park right along Lake Washington. It feels a world away, yet it’s just a short drive from Seattle and the best Woodinville wineries.
The lodge is a reclaimed historic seminary. Guests can take the easy 20-minute walk to Lake Washington, walk the Bastyr University campus, or explore the numerous hiking trails at the park. Amenities include an onsite restaurant and bar, a fitness center, a pool, spa, and bike rentals.
Skamania Lodge

Set on 175 wooded acres, Skamania Lodge is located just an hour’s drive east of Portland on the Washington side. When you visit, you’ll be greeted with mountains on all sides and a view of the Columbia River.
The rooms are modern with woodsy decor. All rooms come with basic amenities, though you can upgrade for a fireplace, balcony, or separate rooms if you’re with a larger party. You can also stay in fun treehouses and cabins if you want a more unique feel.
The property has three restaurants, a spa, a tennis court, an indoor pool, and a hot tub. You’ll also be just a 6-minute walk from the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum, which features natural history and a unique glimpse into the history of the Gorge. From there you can embark on a Columbia River Gorge itinerary exploring the areas scenic viewpoints, waterfalls, and wine.
Sun Mountain Lodge

The Sun Mountain Lodge is located in Methow Valley, about 10 miles from the western-themed town of Winthrop. This is one of my favorite cross-country skiing spots in Washington because it has the longest groomed trail network in North America.
The lodge is rustic-chic with the perfect amount of cabin vibe. They have a great upscale restaurant along with a bar, wine cellar, and library. All rooms come with basic amenities, though you can upgrade to the Lakeside cabins for full kitchens, front porches, and fireplaces.
The best part though are the epic views of the breathtaking Methow Valley. If you decide to travel in winter, consider going during the annual hot air balloon festival to see a bunch of colorful balloons dotting the horizon.
Pro tip: Only the cabins are pet-friendly, and the cross-country skiing trails are off-limits for dogs.
Headlands Coastal Lodge

If you want to visit the Oregon coast and live in luxury, this is how you do it. Headlands is housed within Cape Kiwanda and offers picturesque views of the coastal sea stacks in the distance.
All rooms come with a fireplace, mini-fridges, and even an iPad for controlling the electronics in the room. Large groups can reserve the cottages, which come with washers and dryers, BBQs, whirlpool tubs, and patios. Guests can relax at the bar and watch the ocean waves or even sign up for a yoga or surfing class!
Five Pine Lodge

Five Pine is one of the best Pacific Northwest resorts, especially if you’re a sucker for a rustic lodge aesthetic but with modern amenities. The lodge is surrounded by cabins on all sides, each with fireplaces, flat-screen TVs, and soaking tubs.
Staying at Five Pine puts you less than a mile from Sisters, home to some of the best waterfalls in the state. Staying onsite also gives you access to plenty of hiking trails, a movie theater, a fitness center, and an outdoor pool.
Sunriver Resort

Located just south of Bend, Sunriver Resort is a great spot if you’re looking for a kid-friendly hotel with a little something for everyone. You’ll have a view of the Cascade Mountains and the Deschutes River and be just a short drive from Lava Cave and the Lava Butte Lookout.
As for amenities, Sunriver’s got you covered with indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, a spa, hot tubs, nine restaurants and bars, plus four golf courses. Activities include horseback riding, biking, tennis, and even paintball!
Bay Point Landing

Bay Point is another one of my favorite quirky spots in Oregon to stay, especially if you’re on a road trip through the southern Oregon coast. Guests can stay either in their modern cabins with giant windows overlooking the water or in one of the resort’s vintage Airstream trailers.
Just like the accommodations, the amenities are equally as unique. Guests can take a dip in the saltwater pool, ride a Peleton in the fitness center, play bocce ball, or peak in the general store for some craft brews or curated snacks.
Juniper Preserve (Pronghorn Resort)

Juniper Reserve is the perfect spot for the golf lover in your life. It features two golf courses surrounded by the Cascade Mountains, along with essential amenities like a day spa, two outdoor pools with a poolside bar, and three restaurants to choose from.
If you’re traveling during the spring or summer, definitely check out the lineup at the nearby Hayden Homes Amphitheater, formerly known as the Les Schwab Amphitheater. All the big names play here, so you can easily plan your trip around seeing your favorite band.
Captain Whidbey Inn

Captain Whidbey is one of the best Pacific Northwest resorts located on arguably one of the best islands near Seattle: Whidbey Island. The Inn is housed right on the water overlooking Penn Cove, a waterway famous for mussels. The resort is housed in a well-restored cabin with original timbered walls decorated in a modern and Insta-worthy aesthetic.
What makes this place so special is that they’ve made it a home away from home. Each room was designed by a local professional known for their Insta-worthy aesthetic. There’s also a sauna, relaxation room, and events like wine tasting.
You’ll also find one of the best restaurants in Whidbey right on their property. It overlooks the water and serves up locally caught seafood. When you’re ready to settle in, definitely park at the fire pit on the large deck and enjoy a bottle of one of the many Whidbey Island wineries.
Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa

I love visiting Astoria because it’s authentic and industrial, yet slowly but surely, modern shops, restaurants, and breweries are bringing life into what used to be the salmon canning capital of the world. The Cannery, cleverly named, is built 600 feet out onto the Columbia River in an old cannery building, making it one of the more unique places to stay in Oregon.
Every room comes equipped with a waterfront view, plus private decks and gas fireplaces. As much fun as you’ll have exploring downtown Astoria, you’ll have everything you need right in the hotel. Breakfast is complimentary, along with nightly wine receptions.
When you want to explore, you can be chauffeured around town in the Inn’s 1930s vintage car.
Olympic Lodge by Ayres

If you’re looking for life-changing hikes and scenery but still want to relax in a luxury resort, then you’ll definitely want to check out The Olympic Lodge. It’s located at the Olympic Mountains’ base and is a 2-mile drive from the Olympic National Park Visitor Center and some of the best Washington coast attractions.
The rooms have all the basic amenities, plus a complimentary breakfast, a fitness center, a whirlpool, and a golf course located adjacent to the lodge. Oh, and the pool is heated, which is an automatic A+ in my book.
Salishan Coastal Lodge

The Salishan Coastal Lodge is located between Lincoln City and Lincoln Beach, overlooking Siletz Bay. This is my favorite recommendation for family resorts since it offers kayaking and has a swimming pool, tennis court, and an arcade to keep the kids busy.
For the adults, there are several bars and restaurants on-site plus a spa, a golf course, and a fitness center. When you want to do some exploring, you’re just 7 miles away from Devil’s Lake State Park.
Nita Lake Lodge

The Nita Lake Lodge is set on the shore of Nita Lake, just over 4 miles away from Whistler Village, where I’ve found many of my favorite restaurants in Whistler. It’s at the Creekside base, so it has a gondola up to the famous Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort that’s great to visit year round.
As for the lodge, it includes chic suites with epic mountain views, kitchenettes, gas fireplaces, and (my favorite) rainfall showers. Guests get access to a free shuttle to and from Whistler Village, plus bike, kayak, and fishing rod rentals. There’s also a fine dining restaurant, rooftop hot tubs, and a great spa where I’ve gotten a lovely massage.
The Wesley Walla Walla

The Wesley is high on my list of places to stay in Walla Walla. From the outside it resembles an old-time B&B, but the rooms are modern and the back porch is massive. There’s a hot tub, a grill, a shared lounge, and a shared kitchen, allowing you to really cozy up and crack open one of your newest purchases after a long day of visiting the best wineries in Walla Walla.
Hotel 1000

The Hotel 1000 isn’t exactly what I’d call a “resort” given its smaller city footprint, but it’s a really swanky hotel that best represents Seattle, so I decided to include it in this list of the best Pacific Northwest resorts. The hotel is only a 10-minute walk from Pioneer Square and the Seattle Waterfront, and there’s an on-site spa, a well-equipped fitness center, and an upscale bar and lounge for grabbing a quick drink before experiencing the best hidden gem restaurants in Seattle.
Sagecliffe Resort & Spa

There’s nothing I love more than staying at a winery. SageCliffe is tucked an hour south of Wenatchee in the gorgeous Yakima Valley area. It has two excellent restaurants, an on-site spa, and an outdoor pool with a poolside bar. It’s the perfect retreat to retire after a day of wine tasting.
The Society Hotel

I’m saving my favorite of the best Pacific Northwest resorts for last. The Society Hotel is a brand similar to McMenamin’s because it restores historic buildings and turns them into hipster hostel-like hotels. But these aren’t your slasher-movie hostel, but rather an updated version with amenities that make you want to hang out and make friends.
For example This Society Hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon began its life as a boarding house for sailors in the 1880s. Now it has modern rooms filled with local art, a rooftop bar, and great coffee shop all within walking distance to some of the best restaurants in PDX.
But my favorite of their two properties is The Society Hotel Bingen. It’s perfectly located for visiting the Columbia River Gorge with a ton of character and amenities to come back to after a day of exploring. Its built in a historic school, with the original gym floor, doors, moulding, and windows still intact.
For example, there’s a quaint cafe with great breakfast, coffee, and alcoholic beverages where the principal’s office used to be. The original gym has basketball hoops, corn hole, and stadium seating as if you watching a pep rally.
But the best part is the new Scandinavian-style spa built on the old playfields. There are saunas, multiple pools, and hot tubs. The spa is surrounded by cabins with ensuite bathrooms and beautiful views of the hillside covered in wildflowers. You can even relax and so some yoga in the mediation dome nearby. All in all, this place slaps and is hands down one of the best Pacific Northwest resorts!
