The best chocolate made in Seattle can be found in the most unassuming places. There are chocolate shops in Pike Place Market, tiny chocolatiers in Pioneer Square, chocolate factories right in downtown Fremont…they’re tucked everywhere!
And the best part is that they embody the eco-conscious culture Seattle is known for. They care about where their cacao comes from and focus on the whole supply chain from bean to bar. In fact, Seattle is home to the first Fair Trade chocolate company in the US!
If you’re a chocolate lover, you’re in for a treat! Here is where to find the best chocolate made in Seattle.

Best Chocolate Made in Seattle
Here are my favorite chocolate companies and chocolatiers in Seattle. Save this to Pinterest for later, as I’ll update this list as I discover more.
Spinnaker Chocolate
website | neighborhood: Fremont | best for: minimalist chocolate bars
Spinnaker is a newer chocolate company making bean-to-bar chocolate that focuses on giving people a taste of place. That means you’ll find a high cacao count and not too many mix-ins. This is perfect for the purist who wants to really taste the nuances of the chocolate.
I have to say this is some of the smoothest chocolate I’ve ever had. They were at one of the holiday craft fairs I always go to and I got to sample a bunch of their chocolate. I ended up spending over $100 buying bars for my whole family and, of course, myself.
Don’t miss the 58% Madagascar Chocolate or other single origin bars. They taste fruity as true chocolate should and will give you a true sense of place.
indi chocolate
website | neighborhood: Downtown | best for: dark chocolate bars
You might remember reading my interview with indi chocolate in my roast cauliflower recipe. This local chocolate company is located in Pike Place Market and makes their own chocolate. They even put their cocoa butter in yummy-smelling body lotions and offer a lot of chocolate-focused classes.
My favorite of their chocolate bars is the Vietnam bar originating out of Lamb Dong. It’s not too bitter and has a creamy, tart finish not that much unlike a strawberry or cherry. It makes one of the best Pacific Northwest gifts for food lovers! They also make dark drinking chocolate that is soothing during the colder weather.
Fran’s Chocolate
website | neighborhood: multiple areas in Seattle | best for: gray salted caramels
Fran’s is one of the most beloved chocolate shops in Seattle. They’ve made it to the big leagues, I’d say, because you can find their award-winning artisanal chocolates all over the US (including Whole Foods) and in just about every Seattle grocery store.
I absolutely love their gray and smoked sea salt caramels and make sure to pick up a pack every holiday: one for me and one for my mom, who is also quite obsessed! It’s one of the best food gifts from the Pacific Northwest and, as such, is included as one of the stops on my Georgetown food tour! And since Georgetown is home to so many Seattle craft fairs, it’s the perfect excuse for visiting Fran’s while you explore the neighborhood.
Dolcetta
website | neighborhood: Georgetown | best for: truffles
Dolcetta is one of my go-to boxes of chocolates for holiday gifts. My mom especially love their salty caramel truffles. Unlike many truffles, these are are smaller and square so you can really savor them.
You’ll also find bonbons, chocolate bars, and snowflakes. Bars are where they really play, with fun flavors like cookie dough and rosemary caramel. Keep an eye out for them at some of the best gift shops in Seattle like Venue, The Handmade Showroom, and Capers.
jcoco Chocolates
website | neighborhood: Southcenter | best for: agave quinoa sesame & arabica cherry espresso chocolate bars
You might remember two of my previous posts talking about jcoco chocolates. One was when they hosted me at Seattle Fashion Week for a wine and chocolate tasting. The other was when they took me behind the scenes to try CoffeeFlour, the next super food, which they were one of the first to use in their products.
jcoco is the upscale line from Seattle Chocolate Company, which I prefer over their namesake brand. jcoco doesn’t make its own chocolate, but rather sources quality chocolate and makes the most interesting flavor combinations in their chocolate bars.
I like getting a mix of different flavors so I can try them all. My favorites are the agave quinoa sesame and arabica cherry espresso bars, the latter of which includes CoffeeFlour. And their colorful packaging makes for such a pleasant surprise when given as a gift!
Chocolati
website | neighborhood: various around Seattle | best for: drinking chocolate
Chocolati is one of my favorite spots to grab a drinking chocolate. They have a few locations around the city and anytime I’m near one of them I grab their hot chocolate. It’s so chocolatey and flavorful, unlike any I’ve had before. And if it’s your first time there, they’ll often let you try one of their confections for free!
More Seattle chocolate shops to try
I have a few other chocolate makers on my list to try, so if you want to try them, let me know if they should make this list of the best chocolate made in Seattle!
Intrigue Chocolate
website | neighborhood: Pioneer Square | best for: truffles
Intrigue is a small local chocolate company. Chocolatier Aaron Barthel makes confections using Belgian chocolate, including seasonal truffles and real fruit dipped in chocolate that I’d love to try!
Chocolat Vitale
website | neighborhood: Ballard | best for: drinking chocolate
This is another local chocolate company located in north Seattle that’s known for their dark drinking chocolate.
Hot Chocolat
website | neighborhood: West Seattle | best for: colorful confections
Hot Chocolat is one of the Black-owned businesses in Seattle focused solely on chocolate. Chocolatier Michael D. Poole concocts interesting flavors together like mango habanero caramel, pecan praline, and more that I can’t wait to try.
